Marathon was the best comm -
unity event to happen especially after
the recent terror attacks. He feels
that even after the recent attacks the
city should not let its spirit die and in
fact come forward more aggressively
to show their support and demand for
better governance. ”We can demand
to have a cleaner and a corruptionfree
Mumbai in times where the
atmosphere seemed uncongenial.
We needed to think in terms of WE. I
want to leave my niece Aalia in a city
that is a community of million minds
and ideologies, aspirations and
opinions, but a community all the

works on a role even before she gets
it. That is what worked for her in the

Timely and friendly advice can
sometimes prove to be a turning
point in someone’s life. Proof? More
than 50 years ago when Shakti
Samanta came to Mumbai to become
an actor, Ashok Kumar advised him
not to try his luck in acting and,
instead, become a director. The
result? With Howrah Bridge starring
Ashok Kumar and Madhubala turning
out to be hit. Shakti Films banner
took a flying start and made many
successful, memorable films like
Aradhana, Kati Patang, and An
Evening in Paris, to name only a few.
God only knows if Shakti Samanta
could have lasted 50 years as an
actor. But as a film-maker, he can
well be proud of his achievements.

Today’s hottest pair is that of John and Bipasha. This couple’s only two films — Jism and Aitbaar — have been released so far.
A survey conducted on the Valentine’s Day, shows that cine-goers consider the John-Bipasha pair as the hottest one. A reason might be that the media has widely splashed the stories of their romance.
