Rhea Kapoor On Why She Cast Kriti Sanon In The Crew, “She Is Authentic And Stays True To Her Roots”

The latest talking point in the industry is surely the cast of the upcoming film The Crew. Producers Rhea Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor have pulled a casting coup by roping in stars from three generations- Tabu, Kareena Kapoor and Kriti Sanon for their comic caper. In a latest interview, Rhea revealed why she chose these three actresses for her film.

Tagging Tabu as ‘iconic’, Rhea shared that the actress took two months to give her nod for The Crew. “I flew to Hyderabad to narrate the film to Tabu. She said, ‘Let me think about it’. Then a few days later she replied saying let’s meet, and asked some questions. We met again four days later, where she asked some more questions, then she met the director and had a few more questions for him too. Then finally that day I told her, ‘Before I leave you have to tell me.’ She said, ‘Yes, I will do the film.’ I was super elated,” stated Rhea.

Talking about Kareena with whom Rhea is collaborating for the second time after Veere Di Wedding, the producer said, “The first person cast in this film was Kareena, because we haven’t seen her do comedy like this in a really long time. She plays a glamorous character, and it’s going to be really fun. There is nobody else who can play this role.”

Coming to Kriti, Rhea showered a lot of praises on the young actress. She asserted that Kriti’s authenticity helped her land this role. “She is a really authentic girl. The minute you meet her you know that she stays true to her roots and her family, and that was really important for this character and the film.” She further mentioned, “More than anything else I like the fact that Kriti is so determined and hardworking. Out of this crop of heroines she has been the most diverse in her work. She has found a good balance and I really appreciate that. She is truly fantastic”

The Crew is set against the backdrop of the airline industry. It will be helmed by Rajesh Krishnan and is expected to go on floors in February 2023.
