‘Was Humiliated’: When Tabu Opened Up About Bollywood Manipulations After Getting Replaced In A Film

Bollywood actress Tabu doesn’t need any introduction. She has always won accolades for her performances on-screen. Tabu who has been working in the film industry for almost three decades had a fair share of struggles while carving her niche in the Hindi cinema.

Once Tabu had herself shared about what kind of manipulation she went through in the film industry. The actress told that she has been replaced from films multiple times.

Tabu was replaced by Manisha Koirala

In a conversation with Filmfare in 2001, Tabu revealed that she was replaced by Manisha Koirala in Aamir Khan’s film ‘Mann’. She told that without her knowledge, the makers shown her the door. Tabu stated, “Look, I would have loved to do a film with Aamir. We had also given look test together for ‘Mann’. I don’t know what happened after that. I don’t have an idea of what is going on behind the doors.”

Tabu was thrown out of Govinda’s film

Taking her point further, Tabu said that “manipulations are a part of this game (film industry) and it happens with every heroine.”

Not only ‘Mann’, Tabu was also replaced from Govinda starrer ‘Kunwara’. Urmila Matondkar was cast in this film. Although she did not reveal much about this, she did accept that she had gone through a lot of “disappointment and humiliation”. “It would have been a lot of fun to do ‘Kunwara’ with Chi Chi. I have faced my share of disappointment and humiliation. But I have no complaints, they don’t take you anywhere,” she added.

Though Aamir Khan and Tabu have never worked together except in ‘Fanaa’, where Tabu had a small cameo. she never got a chance to share screen space with Govinda.

Workwise, Tabu was last seen in ‘Bholaa’ alongside Ajay Devgan. She has Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Khufia’ and Rhea Kapoor’s ‘The Crew’ in her kitty of films.
