Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan are one of the power couples of the film industry. They tied the knot in a private ceremony back in 2007 and are nothing less than Bollywood royalty today. The couple is blessed with an adorable 6-year-old girl Aaradhya and the three make for a picture-perfect family.
Professionally, Aishwarya and Abhishek have worked on many films together. The two shared the screen space in movies like Guru, Kuch Na Kaho, Umrao Jaan, Raavan, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, Sarkar Raj, Dhoom 2 and others. But they haven’t done a film together in 8 long years. There have been many speculations these past few days of Aishwarya and Abhishek starring in a film in future. Among many rumours, Aishwarya has confirmed to Mid-day that she has, indeed, signed the film ‘Gulab Jamun’ opposite Abhishek.
‘Gulab Jamun’ will be directed by Sarvesh Mewara and produced by Phantom Films. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said, “AB and I agreed to do Gulab Jamun. I told AB that he needs to decide what he wants to do after Manmarziyan.” She also revealed that the film was offered to them as a couple about a year and a half ago. “We had agreed on the idea then. However, it was around the same time that AB decided to take time out. After the hiatus, he returned with Manmarziyan, which coincidentally is directed by Anurag Kashyap. That’s when the chatter around Gulab Jamun began again, and we finally came on board. It is a beautiful script and we fit the narrative perfectly,” Aishwarya said.
She further said: “The script has to be interesting if a real-life couple is coming together.” When questioned about how they judge a script as a couple, she revealed: “We have got many scripts, and at times, we got tempted too. But then, we discuss it out loud. We take stock and say, ‘Does it excite us?’ Why should marriage define out choices? Shouldn’t we be actually approaching the story as individual actors?”
Well, we don’t know about you but we are thrilled to see this lovely couple unleash the magic with their dazzling chemistry on-screen again.
