Adarsh Gaurav, The Rising Star Of Indian Cinema; Check It Out
Netflix ‘The White Tiger’ starring Priyanka Chopra and Rajkumar Rao has been released and recently became one of the most streamed films on Netflix worldwide. The film has been receiving some positive reviews from all around the world. Both Priyanka and Rajkumar are being appreciated for their performances but the real show has been stolen by the actor Adarsh Gaurav who plays the central character in the film.
Balram Halwai played by Adarsh is an ambitious and cunning young man living in a small poor village. In the spirit of earning fortune, he moves to the big city and started working as a driver for a wealthy family. The event took turns when a drastic change occurs in his fate and his life goes upside down. Gaurav took this role and submerged himself deep into the character and hence a star was born.
There is a dialogue in the film which says ‘An Indian entrepreneur has to be straight and crooked, mocking and believing, sly and sincere, all at the same time’ and Adarsh character is a reflection of this particular dialogue. Balram is well mannered, very respectful to his Boss and he has this innocent expression on his face; but he is very witty and manipulating at the same time. Though Adarsh Gaurav had done a handful number of roles in the past, we can say that he carries ‘The White Tiger’ on his shoulder with class.
Adarsh has been nominated as the best actor for Independent Spirit Awards for his role in The White Tiger along with Late Chadwick Boseman, Riz Ahmed and many international stars. While in an interview with the Film Companion Adarsh said, “This whole reaction is very overwhelming, I grew up watching and learning from these legendary actors and to just see my name beside them is an award to me.” He also spoke about how he drew energy from the other actors on the set to bring an improv or a vibe to his character. He also asserted on the fact that how the director of the film Ramin Bahirani gave him that space to explore the character of Balram and also that he is very fond of his unique directing style.
‘The White Tiger’ is an adaption of 2007 Man Booker Prize winning novel with same name written by Arvind Adiga. It is currently streaming on Netflix and is directed by Ramin Bahirani known for critically acclaimed ‘Farenheit 451’ and ’99 Homes’.
