The much awaited Toilet: Ek Prem Katha will release this week. This unique love story based on such a quirky subject has been grabbing eye balls from all over. The movie is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan. With Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles, the movie will revolve around the condition of women in villages who have to defecate in open due to the unavailability of a toilet in their homes.
Meanwhile, the star cast of the movie was here in the capital to promote the movie. During an interaction with media, Akshay and Bhumi shared some interesting facts.
Akshay on taking up this project said, “Never thought there could be a love story based on such a theme like toilet. This is a love story which is true. It has really happened. This is a real life story. We liked working on it. Hope all you guys like it too.”
Akshay Kumar was asked if there are chances if he will work for any other project related to issues brought forward by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “Currently I have worked on this script only. I loved the script. Our Prime Minister first talked about Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan and clean India. Our movie is related to it. We all must work to keep our country clean because it is related to us and our health. It would be misunderstood if people only think that is problem is limited to the villages only. It is here in cities too. There are more diseases in our cities than villages. We should make sure that whenever we see dirt on roads, we should clean it right away.”
Also, he was asked to share some funny incident from the shoot of the movie. He said, “We all used to laugh a lot during the movie because the scenes were such.”
Bhumi shared her experience of working with Anupam Kher and Akshay Kumar. He said, “Shooting for Toilet Ek Prem Katha with Akshay Sir and Anupam Sir was by far the best experiences of my life. They are very dedicated and very happy people. The biggest thing I learnt from them is being happy. They are extremely hardworking and just their temperament while working with them is a delight.”
Akshay shared how times are changing and women have started raising their voice against inequality. He said, “Now women have started to raise their voice. They don’t want to get married to anyone who doesn’t have a toilet in their homes. They even tell their husbands that they will leave if they don’t build a toilet for them. I recently saw that around 170 brothers together and built toilets on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan to their sisters. Women no longer tolerate inequality anymore.”
A picture of a man peeing in front of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’s poster has been going viral since yesterday.
“I have a feeling that this has been created and it is not a real one. We have no poster like this one. Such things happen,” Akshay said.
He also shared a good news with the media in Delhi today. He said, “I wish to share a good news with all of you. 5 to 8 months ago I got to know that 54% of the people don’t have the facility of a toilet and recently I got to know that the numbers have come down to 34%. So now 34% people don’t have toilets. I want to say thanks to media, our Prime Minister and all other people who are taking care of this thing.”
Well, we are glad that Indian cinema is making a shift through super scripts like these. The movie is likely to change the outlook of many out there who still believe that it is not right to have a toilet in their homes.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha releases on 11 August 2017.
