Assam Floods: Latest Updates
ANI reported an update from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). The flood situation remained serious on Tuesday. More than 4.45 lakh people were affected across six districts, including Sivasagar and Charaideo. Authorities said the conditions continued to remain grim as floodwaters impacted many families and communities across Assam.
According to the ASDMA, 631 villages are still under floodwater, and relief work is continuing across the affected areas. Authorities are running 184 relief camps and distribution centres, where nearly 28,700 people are staying. Officials said no human deaths have been reported so far, but floods have badly damaged homes, roads, schools, farms, crops, and livestock in many districts.
Apart from Assam, many areas of Gujarat are also affected by severe flooding. Reports say that more than 35 people have died, while rescue teams have saved over 7,000 people from flood-affected regions across the state in recent rescue operations.
