Actor Alia Bhatt may have millions of fans worldwide, but when it comes to playful trolling, she admits no one does it better than her husband, Ranbir Kapoor. The actor recently opened up about her marriage, her bond with Ranbir, and the importance of respect in a relationship while appearing as a guest on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s talk show Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle. Joining Alia on the episode was her Badrinath Ki Dulhania co-star Varun Dhawan.

“Ranbir Loves Trolling Me More Than Anyone Else”

In the candid conversation, Alia spoke warmly about her bond with Ranbir, clarifying that their relationship was never the typical filmy romance Bollywood is known for.

“Ranbir and I have a natural friendship, so it was never this like dewy-eyed or rose-tinted glasses sort of relationship,” she shared. “There was a relationship of best friends. Of course, I married him for a reason, because I think he’s wonderful to me and just as a human being. But 100 per cent, the person I love trolling is him, and the person he loves trolling the most is me.”

Her confession revealed a side of their marriage that fans rarely get to see — one rooted not just in love but also in playful banter and a strong friendship.

The Importance of Respect in Marriage

Alia went on to reflect on what makes her relationship with Ranbir strong. For her, respect forms the foundation of everything else in a marriage.

“Because with respect comes all the other things. Whether it’s support or love. Respect to me is the most important thing in a marriage, and in a union,” she explained.

Her words struck a chord with many, especially in an industry where celebrity marriages are often scrutinised and tested under the spotlight.

Choosing a Quiet, Intimate Wedding

The Gangubai Kathiawadi star also shed light on why she and Ranbir opted for a private wedding rather than a lavish Bollywood-style celebration.

“It’s just who we are. We are homebodies, very socially awkward, and we were like It’s our wedding day and we just want the closest people in our lives with us,” Alia revealed.

The couple tied the knot in April 2022 at their Mumbai home, in an intimate ceremony attended by family and a few close friends. Among the guests were Karan Johar, Akash Ambani, and director Ayan Mukerji, who played a pivotal role in their love story.

Parenthood and Raha’s Arrival

Just months after their wedding, Alia and Ranbir embraced parenthood with the arrival of their daughter Raha on November 8, 2022. The couple had begun dating while working together on Mukerji’s 2022 blockbuster Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, where their on-screen chemistry translated into a real-life romance.

Though they initially kept Raha away from the public eye, the couple eventually revealed her face during the annual Kapoor Christmas luncheon in 2023, a moment that melted fans’ hearts.

What’s Next for Alia Bhatt and Ranbir?

While balancing parenthood, both Alia and Ranbir continue to remain active in their careers.

Ranbir Kapoor is currently preparing for his much-anticipated role in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. The ambitious project, featuring Sai Pallavi, Yash, Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, and Lara Dutta, will be released in two parts. The first part is expected to hit theatres on Diwali 2026.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will soon reunite on screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, co-starring Vicky Kaushal. The film, already one of Bollywood’s most talked-about projects, is currently under production.

A Marriage Built on Friendship

Alia’s candid revelations highlight that beneath the glamour of Bollywood, her marriage with Ranbir is anchored in friendship, laughter, and mutual respect. While trolling each other may be a running joke in their household, their bond reflects a balance of playfulness and deep commitment.

For fans, this glimpse into their personal life reinforces why Alia and Ranbir continue to be one of Bollywood’s most admired couples — a partnership that thrives on love, respect, and a little healthy trolling.
