In a shocking turn of events, Anant Bajaj, the managing director of Bajaj Electricals passed away on 10 August 2018, Friday evening. He was the son of the chairman of Bajaj Electricals, Shekhar Bajaj. Anant died a young death as the business magnate was just 41 when he suffered a cardiac arrest last evening at around 6 pm in Mumbai. The last rites were performed at 10:30 am on Saturday.
Anant Bajaj had stepped up as the managing director of the company two months ago. Prior to that, he was serving as the joint managing director. He had started his career as a project coordinator in 1999. Bajaj is credited with bringing the concept of IoT (Internet of Things) in India for the first time. He also launched a digital centre in Mumbai which emphasised real-time monitoring.
He set up a 450 mn high mast manufacturing and galvanizing plant for the company at Ranjangaon, near Pune in 2001. Anant was a member of the young Entrepreneur Wing of the Indian Merchants’ Chamber and also a member of the Greenpeace organisation.
Apart from this, Bajaj was also a part of the board of directors of Hind Lamps Ltd Hind Musafir Ltd and Bachhraj Factories Ltd. Work wasn’t the only thing that kept him busy. Anant was also fond of music, wildlife travelling and sports.
The news of his untimely demise has come as a shock to the entire nation. May his soul rest in peace!
