SS Rajamouli, the director of the magnum opus Baahubali, is all set to answer India minds’ biggest question, “Why did Katappa kill Baahubali” with the second part of the film, Baahubali 2- The Conclusion. The film is all set to slay it on the screens on 28th April. But all is not really well for the film. Actually, Katappa played by Tamil superstar Sathyaraj has embroiled himself into a political controversy. A speech by Sathyaraj aka Katappa dating back to 2008 during the Tamil-Karnataka Cauvery river issue, has enraged Karnataka to boycott the film. In the speech or you can say, ‘hate speech’, Sathyaraj spoke about the unjust behaviour of Kannadigas towards Tamilians staying in Karnataka. He had aggressively expressed his anger towards the people of Karnataka and the trouble they cause to Tamil farmers.
He urged the Kannad people to stand up against the bullies and not accept the ‘dog’ like behaviour. And as expected, these statements didn’t go well with the Kannadigas and they have decided to ban the release of Baahubali-2 in the state. Several movies of Sathyaraj have been released in Karnataka after he delivered this speech in 2008 but it seems they were waiting for the right time to hit back.
Filmmakers are gonna lose out a lot of money if the film doesn’t release in Karnataka for the state caters to a large chunk of South Indian audience.
