An eminent fashion magazine recently unveiled the cover of its August issue featuring Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Nanda and Navya Nanda with the bold title – ‘The Bachchan Women’. The divas of three generations look every bit stunning. Have a look!
But the cover and especially the three words ‘The Bachchan Women’ have left us a bit upset. Here’s why – If you read the ‘words’ carefully and then look at the picture, something seems to be missing. While the smiling faces of Jaya Bachchan, her daughter and her daughter’s daughter are absolutely captivating, but wait, isn’t Aishwarya Rai Bachchan an equal part of the family and deserves to be termed as a ‘Bachchan woman’ too?
Had the title been something about ‘mother-daughter’ bond, it would have been certainly justified to feature Jaya, Shweta and Navya sans Aishwarya. But when you are talking about a particular family’s women and not including the ‘bahu’ in it, this surely is bound to raise eyebrows and sends a wrong message. Especially in a country like India where bahu’s struggle hard to relish daughter-like status, treatment and love from in-law’s – this coming from the Bachchans is very disheartening.
If one blames the conceptualizer of this photoshoot for this entire goof-up, Jaya Bachchan and ‘Bachchan clan’ is equally to be blamed because they could have raised the voice or asked the coordinators to include Aish and Aaradhya as well.
