It seems Kareena Kapoor is on a spree to leave us all awestruck, as she keeps giving us some serious fashion goals for the 9 glorious months of pregnancy. She has been a trendsetter from a long time. Now she is leaving no chance to show off her baby bump. We were not even over with admiring her maternity wardrobe style and she has now given us one more reason to adore her.
At the Lakme Fashion Week 2016, she created history by being the first Bollywood actress to walk for well renowned fashion designer, Sabyasachi Mukhejee during her pregnancy. Recently, Indian supermodel, Carol Gracias who was previously seen in TV reality show, Big Boss, walked the ramp for designer Gaurav Shah and showed off her baby bump. Whereas, various international models like Alessandra Ambrosio and Rafaella Fico have also walked through the ramp in confidence during their pregnancy, Indian actresses have normally shunned the display.
Kareena, who is expecting her first baby with Saif Ali Khan in December was the show stopper for Sabyasachi at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016. Radiating her pregnancy glow, Bebo donned the royal, opulent and well-crafted Lehenga designed by Sabyasachi and brought the five-day long Lakme Fashion Week to the close.
“I must say it’s not one but two of us. It’s a very special moment. I have never walked for Sabyasachi before, and we were not able to do a film together. But this moment is very special. It’s going to be in the history. I am actually very emotional right now. It is a moment I want everyone to cherish. I would like to say Sabyasachi is not a designer, he is an artist. He creates paintings. I am really honoured to wear this artist,” Kareena said after the show.
Karina enthralled the audience as she looked truly adorable and mesmerizing in the lavish and ornate lehega. Among the audiences were Deepika Padukone, Karisma Kapoor, Divya Kumar Khosle and Kajal Aggarwal. While it was her first ramp-walk together with her unborn baby, it was also the first time she walked for Sabyasachi.
“Everyone made this edition so special for me. For me, it is quite an emotional moment as this was the first time we (she and her to-be child) took the ramp together. It was a moment to cherish,”, Kareena told to the reporters.
She is being highly appreciated for her dedication to the work that she is not letting her pregnancy become a hindrance. Moreover this sets an example for the other women too. “I was happy and confident. Pregnant woman can walk and fly and for me it’s absolutely normal. When it comes to my work, acting is my passion and I will work till I die. As long as I am doing what I love, I am going to do that,” she said.
Sabyasachi’s collection, ‘Illuminate’ inspired with the theme shimmer varied from exuberant and opulent saree’s, cocktail dresses, short evening wears and lehnega’s in his usual hues – red, blue, green and golden among others with tint of metallic
