Actor and lawyer Kunickaa Sadanand, currently winning hearts with her unapologetic honesty on Bigg Boss 19, has stirred conversations inside the house with a deeply personal revelation about her past. Known for her strong screen presence in films and TV shows, Kunickaa surprised fellow contestants Gaurav Khanna, Pranit More, and Mridul Tiwari with her candid confession about once battling alcohol addiction following a painful breakup.

In a heartfelt conversation captured during a casual chat, Mridul asked Kunickaa to name one bad habit she had struggled with in life. Without hesitation, she said, “Main drugs bilkul nahi karti, but ek time tha jab main bahot peeti thi, emotionally main bahot down thi, breakup ke baad. Main itna phool gayi thi baap re baap, aur dubbing karte waqt maine apne aap ko dekha baap re baap, ye main kya lag rahi hoon!” (I never did drugs, but there was a time when I drank a lot. I was emotionally very low after my breakup. I had gained so much weight — oh my God! When I saw myself during dubbing, I thought, what have I become!).

The actor, who has often spoken about resilience and personal transformation, revealed that during that dark phase, she turned to alcohol as a coping mechanism. “I was too much into alcohol. I used to go to nightclubs and drink,” she said, recalling how her father had always advised her against losing control or being dependent on anyone — financially or emotionally. “My father always told me, ‘Never drink alcohol with someone else’s money,’” she shared, adding a mix of humour and wisdom to her reflection.

Kunickaa also narrated a moment that made her realise the importance of self-respect. She recalled going on a dinner date where her companion ordered an expensive bottle of champagne worth ₹20,000. “A few days later, he casually mentioned how costly the drink was, and that’s when it hit me — I had consumed it too. I felt so uncomfortable,” she said. The next time he asked her out, she politely declined. Though she didn’t name the person, her anecdote spoke volumes about her self-awareness and growing emotional strength at the time.

As the discussion turned more personal, Gaurav Khanna curiously asked Kunickaa about her love life. With characteristic wit and openness, she revealed, “I have had two live-in relationships and four romances. Aur do shaadiyaan bhi. Matlab 60 ke umar tak theek hai (laughs).” Her light-hearted tone made her confession all the more endearing to her housemates, leaving Mridul jokingly remarking, “I just need this confidence in life.”

When the topic shifted to whether she had ever dated an actor, Kunickaa’s answer was firm. “No, never. I never dated any actor,” she said, adding, “With actors, the problem is that they love themselves too much. Woh apne aap ko bahot zyada pyaar karte hain, woh kisi aur ko kar hi nahi sakte pyaar — especially all the top actors. All the time they will be looking at their faces in mirrors. ‘Main kaisa dikh raha hoon?’” Her remark sent the house into laughter, but also subtly reflected her sharp observations about the industry she’s been part of for decades.

Kunickaa’s life has indeed been a tapestry of experiences — both turbulent and inspiring. She was first married to Abhay Kothari, with whom she has a son. Their marriage ended in separation after a few years, leading to an intense eight-year custody battle. Eventually, Kunickaa chose to step back from the legal fight, prioritising her son’s mental peace over personal victory.

Her second marriage, to Vinay Lall, also ended in divorce. Together, they have a son named Ayaan Lall. In recent interviews, Ayaan has openly discussed how his mother’s strength helped her overcome emotional challenges, including a toxic long-term relationship in the 1990s with singer Kumar Sanu, who was married at the time.

Now, in her 50s, Kunickaa seems to have made peace with her past and is embracing her journey with humour and humility. Her candidness on Bigg Boss 19 has not only won admiration from fans but also sparked conversations about vulnerability, strength, and women owning their narratives without shame.

As one of the most outspoken contestants this season, Kunickaa continues to redefine what it means to be real on reality TV — unfiltered, fearless, and unapologetically herself.
