She was last seen on screen in a cameo role in Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. Entertainment journalist Vicky Lalwani confirmed the news of Kamini Kaushal’s passing on Instagram. Quoting a source close to the family, he wrote that the actress is no longer with us. The family, valuing their privacy, has requested fans and the media to respect their wish for quiet mourning.

Kamini Kaushal was born on February 24, 1927, in Lahore, British India, into an academically distinguished family. She was the youngest among two brothers and three sisters. Her father, Professor Shiv Ram Kashyap, widely regarded as the Father of Indian Botany, was a botany professor at Punjab University. Kamini Kaushal made her Bollywood debut in 1946 with the internationally acclaimed film Neecha Nagar.

From the late 1940s through the 1960s, Kamini Kaushal was among the highest-paid and most sought-after actresses in Bollywood. She delivered several remarkable performances and earned widespread admiration for her versatility and depth. In 1956, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her unforgettable role in Biraj Bahu. Later, she continued to impress younger generations as well and received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.
