In the recent times, Film Industry in India (Bollywood) have seen a very promising change with the focus of industry slowly shifting from overly cheesy meaningless romantic films like “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, “Jaan”, “Jab We Met”, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” etc to some serious reality based biopics or the stories influenced by a real life issue like “Manjhi”, “Sultan”, “Mohenjodaro” , “Bhag Milkha Bhag” etc.

It is not that with making of biopics or real life stories films the romantic films are nowhere in the light. They too are in making till now and even in the real life based films also the filmmakers try to put romance in the story to add some spice and fun but the change is found in the storyline of the films coming now. The stories are more meaningful, inspirational and revolve around a particular incident whereas movies earlier were found to be just revolving around romance, college life and friends.

So yes, there is a good change which can be seen in the recent way the filmmakers are working on their films.

But some things in Bollywood still remain same and one of them is garnishing the film with an item song with the intention to attract maximum audience. We shouldn’t forget that the basic purpose of the film industry is to entertain people and earn money out of the film, be it the old cheesy romance or a serious reality based film the main motive of the film makers remain the same.

Though yes now the audience are offered with different genres of films and stories to watch.

With the change in the working of film makers, now the change in the acting style and seriousness for the roles in the actors can also be seen.

The actors who earlier only flirted with the actress and danced with their shirt off are now seen playing roles of a real life character while trying to be fully in the role.

The basic storyline of every second film released in Bollywood was

Two people coming together, Falling in love, their parents objecting, their mission to impress the parents and

The elders get convinced and before you know. The movie has offered you a ‘Happy Ending’!
Being an ardent movie fan, I dream of this life too!

So yes, where Bollywood was always keen on making films with a happy ending note, now there is a kind of noticeable change in the way movies are being made.

Now we see, open ended and no fancy ending in the movies. There is a sense of reality we can feel. Where there was always an intention of making a dreamy fairy tale film, now on reality grounds some real stories are being made.
