Last evening, the 65th National Film Awards took place in the capital and attending the event were seen the Khannas and the Kapoors.
While Boney Kapoor and his daughters, Janhvi and Khushi collected the Best Actress (Hindi) award on behalf of Sridevi, for her stellar performance in Mom (2017). Akshaye Khanna and her mother, Kavita Khanna, on the other hand, collected the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award on behalf of the late legendary actor Vinod Khanna for his contribution to cinema.
At the prestigious award ceremony, when the announcer was announcing Sridevi’s contribution to the cinema, Boney Kapoor and his daughters couldn’t control their tears and got all emotional. Boney, whose love for his wife is known to all, was seen sobbing like a baby, while Janhvi was seen consoling him like a doting daughter.
Here are a few pictures and videos from the ceremony:

Vinod Khanna’s wife, Kavita Khanna too got emotional while collecting his award with her son. Speaking to the media about the award, she had said, “It’s such a happy occasion and time of great pride for us, for the family, for all his fans and for everyone who loves him. There’s also a sense of his not being here to receive it. But I am so happy Akshay is going to receive it on his behalf… There can be no one better than Akshay to receive this on his behalf.”
Before the ceremony had commenced, Boney also expressed his feelings on receiving this award on behalf of Sridevi and said, “I wish she was here. She truly deserved this award. It’s so unfortunate that she is not here with us today to celebrate. I am grateful to the government of India, the I&B Ministry and the jury. It is a proud moment for all of us but sadly she is not here.”
Thanking the jury and the government for honouring her mother with the prestigious award, Janhvi said, “I want to thank the jury and the government of India for recognising the hard work my mother has done. It is very special for us as a family.”
The families were handed over the awards by President Ram Nath Kovind.
