Neelam Saxena Chandra is an electrical engineer by profession but a writer by heart. Currently she is working for the Indian Railways. And Around 600+ of her stories/poems have been published in various leading Indian as well as international magazines, anthologies and journals.

Neelam Saxena Chandra’s “Can I have this chance” proceeds with Avantika’s journey of life, who is an Indian journalist and possesses true courage, utter willingness to defend truth and law, a natural hatred for corruption and an unmatched heroism. Avantika had fallen in love with her childhood friend Aryan, but due to unwanted circumstances and social obligations they were forcibly parted. After sometime when Avantika joined the Magma, Sunil who is the Managing Director of Magma had fallen in love with her. But the scars of the painful heartbreak stop her to accept the love again in her life. Thereafter, a call from the New York Daily for a job assignment after her terrific performance as a journalist in Sunil’s magazine Magma became the turning point of her life. But during her journey to New York, her past knocks on her doors again.

Though the story revolves around the three characters, namely Avantika, Aryan and Sunil but the inclusion of the Indian morals in the behaviour of the characters provides a unique insight without being monotonous. The story is fictional and this book can be picked as a read-for-pleasure stuff. It is a complete debut of emotions, independence, despair, love, pain and back again to love.

The characters are shown to be bold and distinctive but helpless when it comes to love and sacrifice and gave a chance to let their destiny decide for them. The novel is simple and the fast-paced. Short chapters provide a smooth flow to the story and the transitions of the scenes have been carefully crafted.

Neelam Saxena Chandra not only highlights the drawbacks of Indian society but also shows the courage and the crucial choices made by a woman that makes her idiosyncratic.

What makes this novel unique and distinctive from other love stories is the inclusion of issues like rape, subjugation of women, the illegal rule of the ‘gundawalas’ that has not only added a touch of reality to the novel but also provides a charm of romance with action.

From the villages of North India, to the posh highways of New York, the story never loses its charm and grip that you can’t put the book down without finally reaching the end. You will enjoy every twist and turns in a story that will hold the your mind long after turning its last page.
