One of the most controversial shows of all times, ‘Pehredaar Piya Ki’, is set to return to its home channel Sony Entertainment Television in the month of November, the promo of the same was posted on the channel’s official account.
The show which revolved around a 9 year old orphan prince marrying his 18 year old care taker, garnered a lot of negative attention, which provoked more than 1 lakh people to sign an online petition against the show for supporting child marriage. Scenes depicting honeymoon between the two, the child filling the woman’s maang with sindoor, and many other, irked the viewers to a great extent. Post which the show timings were changed from 8pm to the 10pm slot, as directed by the BCCC. But since the channel and the makers were not happy with the change in timings, the show which was premiered on 17th July 2017 was soon taken off air on 28th August 2017.
The cast included Tejaswi Prakash Wayangankar as Diya and Affan Khan as 9 year old Ratan Maan Singh. But in the second season, which is said to be taking a 12 years leap, will not include Affan Khan. Also, keeping in mind the sensitive audience, such controversial topics will not be touched in this season.

Though the current promo is only showing Tejaswi Prakash Wayangankar AKA Diya, but according to reports, the role of grown up Prince Ratan Maan Singh will now be played by Rohit Suchanti. Rest of the cast is said to be the same, which includes Suyyash Rai who portrays the role of Diya’s former fiancé Abhay.
