‘Dangal’ girl Zaira Wasim who played the younger Geeta Phogat in the Aamir Khan blockbuster, has posted an open letter on her Facebook page, which she later deleted. The 16-year-old, who hails from Srinagar, posted a note on her social networking handles to post an apology, asking Kashmiri youth not to follow in her footsteps or even consider her as their role model.

In recent times, she got to meet Mehbooba Mufti, Jammu and Kashmir CM, and opened up regarding the importance of girls’ education together with the safety of women.

If we believe reports, Zaira had been trolled by netizens to meet Mufti and several comments made the girl post an apology letter.

She wrote,

“I want to apologise to all those people who I’ve unintentionally hurt and I want them to know that I understand their sentiments behind it especially considering that what had happened over the past 6 months but I hope people can also understand there are certain circumstances that emerge which one cannot control and I hope people still remember that I’m just a 16-year-old girl and I hope you treat me accordingly. I’m sorry for what I did but it was not a deliberate decision and I really hope people can forgive me.”

Here’s the entire text of her letter.

After deleting this post, Zaira shared another post where she insisted that she was not forced into anything by anyone and that the letter was to make sure that people were not hurt what she was doing.
