A case was filed against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh by the CBI. He was accused of raping two ‘sadhvis’ (female followers), in 2002 and the case came to trial in 2008. He was asked to appear in the court today at 2:45 pm and everyone has been waiting for the verdict to be out since this morning, especially the followers of Dera.
A lot of security has been deployed in Punjab and Haryana because of the verdict. The Haryana government imposed curfew in Sirsa after Dera followers headed to the place. The place also has a 72-hour ban on mobile internet services, except voice calls.

The hearing started at 2:30 and now the result is finally out. Punjab and Haryana Court have found Ram Rahim guilty under section 375 of Indian Penal Code. Power supply of nearby regions has been disconnected. We will have to wait and see how Dera followers react to the verdict.

Stay tuned for more updates on the verdict.
