There’s no denying that Akshay Kumar aka the khiladi of Bollywood is one of the busiest actors of B-town. With five movies including Gold, Good News, Housefull 4, 2.0 and Kesari in the pipeline, Akshay Kumar is treating the audience with some great movies.
But did you know that even this man, who is now a producers’ actor, faced rejection during his early days? Yes, you read that right. Apparently, Akshay Kumar auditioned for the role of Shekhar Malhotra in Aamir Khan starrer Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander. However, director Mansoor Khan rejected the Akshay and Deepak Tijori ended up playing the role.
Khiladi Kumar was made to shoot for a volleyball sequence but the makers were not happy with his act. Revealing the story to a media portal, Akshay Kumar said “Apna screen test diya maine, for Deepak Tijori’s role. And they didn’t like it. And, apparently, I was crap, so they removed me.”
In 2016’s MAMI festival, choreographer Farah Khan, who was also the part of casting team of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander had said that director Mansoor Khan didn’t find him fit for the role of Shekhar Malhotra, so he rejected him. If he hadn’t, we would have seen two great actors on the silver screen together. But it looks like we have to wait now.
On the professional front. Akshay Kumar is currently shooting for Kesari. The movie is based on the Battle of Saragarhi that took place between the Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and the Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen in 1897. Directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari is all set to release during Holi 2019.
He is also busy with the promotions of his upcoming release Gold that will hit the theaters on August 15. The sports drama marks the debut of television actress Mouni Roy.
