Your perfect style and comfort combo.

Getting your beachwear together for a beach vacation in India so that you look stylish yet don’t get ogled at or invite the moral police brigade, is a very tricky proposition. While the world over, the bikini and the swimsuit are the staple clothing keeping in mind the seaside weather and the fact that you’d want to take a dip in the water, it doesn’t get too many thumbs-ups on Indian beaches. That doesn’t mean you cannot look stylish on your Indian beach vacation. Here are some beachwear options that surely don’t compromise on style nor on comfort.
Beach dress: The one-piece we are talking about, ladies, isn’t swimwear. However, if there is one beachwear which has always been the perfect choice anywhere in the world it’s the beach dress. Versatile and super glam the beach dress is sure to make heads turn for all the right reasons. And what’s more, this no-fuss piece of clothing flatters every body type. Choose from a full-length maxi dress, short crochet or lace dress or a off-shoulder strappy number. Variety abounds, there is a chic beach dress for every liking.
Kaftan: The beach kaftan, most Indian ladies, you would agree that is one garment which combines style and comfort like no other. Even for those who aren’t prepared to go bold, it covers you up with just the right amount of clothing but at the same time will not make you look regressive. And if you belong to those who would like to go bold, a light pastel or white flimsy kaftan over a bright printed bikini does just that. Choose from chiffons to cotton in tie-dye prints or plain soft hues. Up your style quotient with fringed edges and plunging lacy necklines.
Playsuits and sarongs: Still haven’t made up your mind? Then here are two more options on offer. The wrap dress sarong and the playsuit. Wear the sarong in multiple ways like a flirty one-shoulder knot dress, wear it with a side slit or even as a halter dress. Another way to rock that beach look is with a beach playsuit. Fun, youthful and very comfortable, playsuits in block colours or prints are a rage the world over. Team them with a broad floppy beach hat and flat strappy sandals for the ultimate stylish ensemble.
Terrific tops: For a moment forget the bikini. The next best piece of clothing which will give you as much freedom and comfort like the bikini is the tank top. They are loose and airy and have a variety of designs that will suit every taste. For those looking to cover up a little more but still want to flaunt their sexy midriff, look no further than crop tops. Especially in white, crop tops can be paired with any possible lower garment – be it a short wrap skirt or denim shorts. Sleeveless crop-tops with a tie-up add to the mystery and fun factor. And if the midriff is your problem area then a crop-top with long tassels or the spaghetti top is a sure saviour.
Versatile lowers: Come to think of it, there to an array of options in this category too that can be teamed with most tops. Beach shorts come first. There is no option for these little shorts that can be carried off by any body type. Only the length will vary. Short denim skirts especially frayed, are always a good bet with a white or offshoulder top. Boy shorts are another option and so are wrap skirts in all lengths. For a lazy stroll on the beach to feel the sand between your toes or to enjoy the sunset from a beach shack, opt for palazzo, gypsy, harem or boho pants. These breezy numbers in tribal or floral prints, tie-dye and aztec designs are sure to match your style.
Luckily there are no restrictions on accessories, so make sure you have the staples; a broad-rimmed floppy beach hat, oversize sunglasses, strappy sandals and flip-flops plus a large tote or jhola – and style will be your second name.
Having said that, there are still other things to keep in mind when on a beach vacation in India.
Dress keeping in mind your comfort level as well as your body shape.
Respect the cultural sensibilities of the locals, so if you desire to wear a bikini go to those beaches where you will fit in rather than stand out.
Dressing is just one aspect of your vacation, so don’t let that overwhelm you.
Also keep in mind that you are out there to have fun and would prefer to concentrate on enjoying your holiday than having to ward off unwanted stares or deal with lewd comments
