Farah Khan recently revealed that she has cleared all of her cook Dilip’s debts, a debt repayment effort that took an entire year and was funded by her YouTube earning, she says. Speaking on her own YouTube channel with Soha Ali Khan, Farah opened up about how posting cooking vlogs with Dilip did more than just entertain: it changed his life.
According to Farah, while Dilip had been managing before, he carried a huge financial burden. She shared that she told him not to take any more loans, because whatever money he might “get from others will just go down the well.” Over the past year, she says, she has paid off all his existing liabilities so that he can finally breathe easier.
But Farah doesn’t stop there. She’s working on a plan to build Dilip a house, and she wants to pull in brands to help make that happen, so he won’t be burdened by any mortgage. She described the house as a “next big step” for him, which she feels he has truly earned.
Over the course of their YouTube journey, Farah says she has significantly boosted Dilip’s earnings. Not only does he get paid extra for appearing on her videos, but he also earns from a share of the channel’s revenue. In an earlier vlog, Dilip joked that when they started, his salary was just ₹20,000, now it’s gone up considerably.
Farah also talked about how she is investing in Dilip’s family. She said she is supporting his children by paying for English-medium education, and one of his sons is doing a diploma in culinary arts so he doesn’t have to stay in domestic service forever.
This generosity, Farah says, comes from a place of gratitude: Dilip has become a big reason behind the success of her vlogs. Her audience loves their warm, funny banter, and Dilip, once just her cook, has become a rising internet personality in his own right.
Farah also recently reflected on how much freedom working on YouTube gives her. She noted that unlike traditional film or TV platforms, she isn’t restricted by producers or executives.
