It’s been long ever since the Arushi Murder Case has been doing rounds. Aarushi, 14, was found dead with her throat slit in her bedroom. Hemraj, family’s domestic help was suspected of the murder in the year 2008. Domestic help Hemraj was found dead on the terrace of the flat. It was said that the murders were carried out with surgical precision. Aarushi’s father Rajesh Talwar was arrested in connection with the double murders.
CBI conducted lie detection test of Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar. Narco-analysis tests on Rajesh Talwar was done. By the end of the year, CBI team filed a closure report citing “insufficient evidence.”
Talwars remained as prime suspects. In 2011, Trial court rejected CBI’s closure report and summoned Aarushi’s parents to face charges of murders. In February 2011, Talwars approached Allahabad High Court but their plea for dismissed. It was in March 2011, the couple approached the Supreme Court. Supreme Court says the bail granted to Rajesh Talwar by the lower court in the ‘Aarushi murder case’ would continue and that he should appear before the Ghaziabad Magistrate on February 4 to face trial along with his wife, Nupur Talwar. In November, 2013, Rajesh and Nupur are convicted for double-murder and sentenced to life imprisonment by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad.
Now again the couple filed an appeal in the Allahabad High Court challenging the previous court’s order. Allahabad High Court finally delivered its verdict today.
Dentist couple Nupur and Rajesh Talwar have been acquitted of charges of murdering their teen daughter, Aarushi, in 2008, by the Allahabad High Court.
Nearly 300 people inside the tiny courtroom to hear the judgement in the case.
The judges of the Allahabad High Court arrived at 2.40 pm. It took them 10 minutes to read out the verdict which acquitted the Talwars of the double murder at their home in Noida near Delhi in 2013.
The Talwars were sentenced to life in prison in 2013. They had appealed against their conviction.
