Forbes: Akshay Kumar Is World’s 7th Highest Paid Actor, Salman In 9th Place

The Forbes is out with it’s annual list of Top 10 highest paid actors of 2018 across the world and well, well, Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar are on the list. Yes, neither Amitabh Bachchan nor Shah Rukh khan are there on the list. In fact, it’s quite surprising how Shah Rukh Khan has lost his spot in this highest-paid actors’ list as he never fails to make it to the list.

Kumar and Khan are the only two Bollywood actors to make it to the top 10 highest-paid actors list, compiled by the publication. Akshay Kumar is the seventh highest-paid actor in the world. He has earned USD 40.5 million in 2018, according to Forbes magazine. On the other hand,  Salman Khan ranked ninth taking home a sum of $38.5 million between June 1, 2017 and June 1, 2018.

Last month also, Akshay and Salman made it to Forbes list of top 100 highest paid entertainers of 2018. While Akshay was ranked 76th on the list, Salman Khan secured the 82nd spot.  Akshay Kumar, who rounded off the Top 10 last year has secured seventh position this year, all  thanks to films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and PadMan, in addition to the endorsements of some 20 odd brands.

For Akshay, the magazine writes, “One of Bollywood’s leading men has transitioned to socially-conscious roles, such as Toilet, a comedy supporting government campaigns to improve sanitation, and Padman, about a guy hoping to provide inexpensive sanitary pads to rural communities. He still mints millions from backend profits and endorsing some 20 brands, including Tata and Eveready.”

Talking about Salman, he owes the Forbes rank to hit films Tiger Zinda Hai (which earned over Rs 300 crore globally) and Race 3. Forbes describes Salman as, “This Bollywood mainstay continues to produce and star in hits such as Tiger Zinda Hai, cashing in on backend profits. Coupled with a slew of endorsements from Suzuki motorcycles to Chlormint gum, he remains one of India’s top earners.”

Apart from them, International stars such as George Clooney, Chris Hemsworth, Will Smith, Jackie Chan and Dwayne Johnson are present on the list too. George Clooney has topped the list. Dwayne Johnson retained his second position this year with $124 million in his pocket courtesy, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Rampage.
