Amla hair oil: Buy some Amla powder from your grocery store or get some freshly cut pieces of Amla and good quality mustard/coconut oil… Put the two together in a thick bottomed pan and boil until the amla pieces turn dark. Allow the oil to cool down. Sieve it and pour into a glass bottle. Apply this oil twice or thrice in a week for good results. This oil not only gives a black colour to your hair, but also stops hair fall.
Brahmi Hair oil: Brahmi is a medicinal plant which is a known memory enhancer. The leaf of brahmi was used from olden days to enhance hair growth. Take a cup of coconut oil and add 5 to 10 teaspoonfuls of brahmi powder to it. Mix it well and heat the oil on low flame. When it starts fuming add few grains of fenugreek and watch the fenugreek pop up. At this point switch off flame. Allow it to cool. Then sieve the oil into a glass or ceramic bottle. You can apply warm oil twice a week and do simple massage. Leave it for ten or fifteen minutes and wash it off. If you consistently do this for several weeks this homemade brahmi hair oil will help your tresses to become thick.
Neem Oil: Are you suffering from dandruff? Dry few neem leaves in the shade. Boil 100 ml of coconut oil, add the neem leaves to it and switch off the flame. Let the leaves remain in oil for a week. Filter it and store it in a glass bottle. Apply it on your scalp and let it soak for half an hour. Then wash your hair as usual. Do this regularly every week to get rid of dandruff.
Hair oil with Coconut Milk: This oil is widely used to help hair growth, especially in Kerala. This hair oil has a special kind of preparation. The coconut we select should be fully ripe and dried in order that the oil stays fresh for a long period of time. This hair oil helps in getting rid off of dandruff and avoids unnecessary hair loss.
Ingredients: Coconut oil- 1 cup; Coconut milk- 1 cup; Brahmi powder- 5 teaspoons; Aloe Vera- 2 teaspoons; Tulsi leaf paste- 1 teaspoon.
Grate coconut and crush it with a mixer. Then squeeze the milk and keep aside. Mix brahmi powder, tulsi leaf paste and aloe Vera. To this add coconut milk and coconut oil and mix well. Start heating this mixture on low flame. When the fumes start emanating add few grains of rice or fenugreek or corn and see it popping up. Immediately switch off the stove. Let not the contents turn too dark. When it cools down sieve it and pour into a suitable glass bottle or ceramic container. Apply the hair oil all over hair and scalp weekly and give a thorough massage. Wait for half an hour and then wash it off.
Coconut and Lemon Oil: Lemon helps reduce dandruff to a large extent and coconut oil helps to nourish hair. Take coconut oil as per your requirement and then add a few drops of lemon to it. Mix it well and apply and massage onto the hair roots thrice a week and have a hair wash. Within a week you will see the dandruff vanish.
Spa Oil: Call off that weekend spa appointment to the hair salon this week and go for a good DIY hair spa at home. It helps you to de-stress and relax and you couldn’t feel better. Select an oil of your choice-coconut, mustard, sesame, or olive oil. For the spa factor, use an aromatic essential oil according to your liking-grapefruit, chamomile, lavender, jasmine, cinnamon etc. Take the base oil and mix 1 to 2 drops of your essential oil to it. Warm this mixture and massage for 15 minutes on the scalp. Steam your hair with a towel. Remove the towel after sometime and relax for some time and then wash your hair.
