HOW MASABA SAVED NEENA GUPTA’S LIFE

Bollywood actress Karishma Kapoor Khan launched Neena Gupta’s autobiographic book titled “Sach Kahun Toh” today. The book is a dare devil straight on face reflection of what the actress had gone through in her life, about her ups and downs, from raising daughter Masaba Gupta to getting married. During the occasion, Neena Gupta revealed few of her most close to heart memories. One of the incidents which she recalled was how Masaba saved her life on the sets of Sanjay Khan’s serial ‘The Sword of Tipu Sultan’. Remembering it as a traumatic experience, she said, “They were doing my wedding scene in the series. Masaba was one-and-a-half years old and that day she had a little fever. In my makeup room, the walls are wet. So, I didn’t take her along on the sets. But later, in the afternoon, I got her after lunch to the studio. At that time, I was feeding her so used to wait for pack up. So, I sneaked out of the studio. I reached my room. I picked up Masaba and I heard a blast. When I came out, I saw a light man coming towards me. He was on fire. I was looking at him. He called me to help. I remember I said, how can I help when I have a child with me”.

The Actress said that she always wanted to have a family. ‘I wanted to have a normal husband, children, my in-laws. When I see other people, I do feel a little envious. I did not blame, I did not become alcoholic because what I wanted, I did not get,” she was quoted saying. Speaking about her second innings as actress in Bollywood films, Neena Gupta said, ‘I am feeling happy about this time. Sometimes I say that I wish I was younger now but then I say at least I got it now than not getting it. I have good work lined up now. I am really grateful to God that I got a chance even now and I am enjoying it.” Having done movies like Badhaai Ho, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, The Last Colour, Panga among others, in recent years, the actor has started to make headlines again because of her phenomenal on-screen performances.

Talking about her husband, Vivek Mehra whom she married in 2008, she was saying, “I stay in Mumbai and my husband lives in New Delhi. And because of our work, we hardly got a chance to stay together but we lived as husband and wife here, in the lockdown. First time I came to know him and he came to know me.” Neena Gupta is known for making bold choices in her life and always standing by them, which has inspired many women. Neena Gupta was in a relationship with former West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards with whom she has daughter, Masaba Gupta, who is at present an ace fashion designer. Neena Gupta and Masaba Gupta have always been in praises about each other as the latter has always understood and supported her mother in ever decision she made, and it is the same in reciprocal, as the mother too stands firm with her daughter in her career and life steps.
