Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi has spoken out strongly against the recent debate sparked by Kajol and Twinkle Khanna, who argued on their show that emotional cheating is more damaging than physical betrayal. Huma, in a no-nonsense response on a podcast, rejected the distinction altogether, calling out what she sees as a disturbing “free pass” for one form over the other.
On Two Girls & Two Cups with host Shubhankar Mishra, she made her position crystal clear: “Cheating is cheating, physical-emotional kya hota hai … cheating, cheating hota hai. I’m very clear about this,” she said. Qureshi went on to describe herself as “very old-school,” insisting that any betrayal undermines the basic trust in a relationship.
Her comments come in response to Kajol and Twinkle’s controversial dismissal of physical infidelity as a dealbreaker. On their show, Twinkle had joked “raat gayi baat gayi” (what’s done is done), while Kajol echoed a similar sentiment. Janhvi Kapoor, a guest on the show, pushed back, saying both physical and emotional cheating carry serious weight.
Qureshi didn’t shy away from calling out the age-based excuses offered by Kajol and Twinkle, who suggested that perceptions of infidelity change over time. “I don’t believe in that … Either don’t be with someone, or if you’re with someone, then be with them properly,” Huma argued, rejecting any justification for infidelity rooted in misunderstanding or maturity.
She also raised a larger concern: if emotional betrayal is considered worse, does that give a “free pass” to physical infidelity? In her sharp critique, she said, “I don’t understand this free pass kind of thing … then don’t be with a person; stay single and do your thing.”
By refusing to distinguish between emotional and physical cheating, Huma is advocating for a more straightforward approach to fidelity: honesty, respect, and accountability. For her, the key issue isn’t the form of betrayal, but its very presence in a committed relationship. Her stance underscores the importance of clear boundaries and mutual respect – no excuses, no exemptions.
In pushing back against Kajol and Twinkle, Huma Qureshi is calling for greater clarity in how we define loyalty. Her view resonated with many on social media, especially those who believe that normalizing any kind of cheating weakens the foundations of trust in relationships.
