If rumours turn out to be true, this year might witness the biggest ever Indian wedding! Rumour mills are abuzz that Mukesh Ambani’s elder son Akash Ambani is all set to tie the knot with Shloka Mehta, the youngest daughter of diamantaire Russell Mehta.
The news of their prospective wedding has spread like a wildfire and set the Internet ablaze. However, both the families have refused to comment on the wedding. If sources are to be believed an official announcement of an engagement is expected within next few weeks with a wedding being planned for early December this year.
For the uninformed, 26-year-old Akash Ambani is the elder son of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani. Akash, the chief of Jio also has a twin sister, Isha and a younger brother, Anant. On the other hand, the bride-to-be Shloka has finished her Masters in Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Shloka also serves on the Board of Directors panel for Rosy Blue Diamonds and is also the co-founder and director at ConnectFor which matches volunteers with NGOs that need them. She has also studied Anthropology at Princeton University. She is youngest of three children of Russell and Mona Mehta. Mona is said to be a relative of infamous and defaulter diamond jeweller, Nirav Modi.
Both Shloka and Akash have studied together in the same school, i.e. Dhirubhai Ambani International School.
A source close to Ambani family revealed, “No dates of either the wedding or engagement of Akash Ambani have been finalised”. The source further added, “As and when any good news is to be shared, the family will be delighted to share with everyone.” “Importantly and to reaffirm that as and when any wedding is finalised, it will only be in India,” the sourced said.
