In a candid conversation with Filmfare, actress Janhvi Kapoor weighed in on this division, admitting her dislike for the industry split and acknowledging the inherent unfairness of privileged actors publicly discussing their own challenges given the vastly different realities faced by outsiders. This comes amid the persistent debate concerning insiders versus outsiders becoming one of the most polarising topics in the Bollywood industry. While actors from non-film backgrounds often speak openly about the formidable difficulties of establishing a career without pre-existing connections, star kids are frequently accused of having a significantly easier path due to their privileged upbringing.

When directly asked about the widespread perception that the struggles of outsiders are far more significant, and why star kids rarely speak about their own challenges, Janhvi offered an honest and self-aware explanation. “Koi interested nahi hai sunne ke liye. Kyunki hum privileged background se hain toh koi thodi naa sunna chahta hai. It’s just not right,” she admitted. “I think hume complain bhi nahi karna chahiye kyunki hum bohut abhari hai jo bhi mila hai uske liye.” (No one is interested in listening. Because we come from a privileged background, nobody really wants to hear us out. And that’s fair. I don’t think we should even complain, because we are very grateful for whatever we’ve got.)

She underlined the insensitivity of star kids focusing on their own struggles, especially in a competitive industry where everyone faces hardship. “Agar hum yahan baithke bolenge ki nahi humare liye bhi bohut mushkil hai, well, that’s the case for everyone),” she added.

Janhvi further articulated her belief that the vast difference in experience makes it impossible for insiders to truly comprehend the difficulties faced by outsiders. “I don’t like this insider-outsider division, but the kind of struggles they face are very different, and we will never truly understand them,” she confessed.

She concluded her point with a powerful admission of self-awareness: “Humara yahan complaint karna ki hum bohut cheezon se guzre hain, I feel it is just tone-deaf aur koi sunna bhi nahi chahta hai (For us to complain that we’ve gone through a lot as well is just tone-deaf, and honestly, no one wants to listen to that).” Janhvi’s comments are a rare acknowledgment from a prominent star kid about the unearned advantage of background and the insensitivity of equating their struggles with those from outside the industry.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Current Projects and Future Trajectory

Janhvi Kapoor is currently seen in the film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, where she stars alongside Varun Dhawan, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles, supported by Maneish Paul and Akshay Oberoi. The film has opened to mixed reviews from audiences and is reportedly lagging far behind Rishab Shetty’s pan-India film Kantara Chapter 1 at the box office, highlighting the intense competition in the current cinematic landscape.

Looking ahead, Janhvi is set to make a significant move into South Indian cinema. She will next be seen in the sports action drama Peddi. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana and produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru and Ishan Saksena under Vriddhi Cinemas and IVY Entertainment, the film features Ram Charan in the lead role, alongside Divyendu Sharma, Jagapathi Babu, and Shiva Rajkumar in pivotal roles. Peddi is currently slated for a theatrical release on March 27, 2026.

Janhvi Kapoor’s willingness to address the insider-outsider debate so candidly, especially amidst the release of a major film, sets her apart. Her focus remains on acknowledging the undeniable privilege of her position while navigating a challenging professional environment.
