Madhuri Sharma made a world record doing belly dancing in the air (aerial belly dance) at a height of 11 feet 6 inches for four minutes and 20 seconds.

She is the inventor of aerial belly dancing and has already gained fame through many TV shows. But making a world record was her childhood dream but she was not willing to break any other  record because her mother didn’t want her to break someone else’s record. So she decided to come up with a different and amazing invention which was never done before.

Madhuri faced so many challenges while developing this style and so many times got injured also. This dance style needed to be a blend of expressions, belly dance techniques, balance and choreography – without using any aerial acrobatic movements.

Madhuri took training in Indian classical dance Kathak and did her Ph.D in dancing. She has worn many national youth festivals during her college time and peformed as a Kathak soloist in front of reputed people of India like Smt Pratibha Patil. Bherow Singh Shekhawat,  Vasundhara Raje, Nawal Kishor, Kamlabeniwal, Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Smt Anu Aga among others. Even after her successful stage and mentorship as a dance teacher in Banasthali University, she wanted to bring all her talents in front of the world. So TV shows started giving her recognition. She participated in Dance India Dance 1, Just Dance, India’s Got Talent and Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega. As a finalist in the show she won the title of Maha Entertainer. She also worked in the serial Akbar Birbal as Abeera.

“The world record was one of my dreams so I attampted it, though aerial belly dancing was difficult to do. But my training has been very hard from my childhood. I was also a hockey player and got a chance to play till the nationals and my sports and dance training descipline helped me a lot to make it myself. I belong to Gangapur City, Rajasthan, and this was a kind of challenge to walk with big dreams being a girl. But my parents and brother helped me a lot to fulfil my dreams and I always feel that nothing is impossible.”
