“Masaba Told My Stylist I Can’t Wear Her Designed Saree To Ram Janambhoomi”, Kangana Ranaut Alleges Discrimination in Bollywood

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has once again spoken openly about the discrimination she claims to have faced within the Hindi film industry. According to Kangana, she had planned to wear a saree designed by Masaba Gupta for her visit to Ayodhya.

However, while she was already en route, Masaba reportedly instructed Kangana’s stylist not to let her wear the saree for that occasion and also asked that her brand name should not be associated with the visit. Kangana shared that by the time this message reached her stylist, she had already left from Lucknow for Ayodhya and changing her outfit was not an option. She said the incident left her feeling humiliated and emotionally shattered.

In her post, Kangana wrote, “An incident I will never forget. It happened when I wore a Masaba Gupta saree for Ram Janmabhoomi and she told the stylist that I couldn’t wear her saree. I had already left from Lucknow for Ayodhya and changing was not possible. I felt so humiliated and belittled that I quietly cried in my car.” She further added that later, like several other designers, Masaba asked the stylist not to mention her or her brand name publicly.

The actress also alleged that many designers initially show warmth and friendliness towards her but later distance themselves and stop offering support. Kangana described this pattern as discriminatory and driven by hatred, stating that such incidents continue to disturb her even today. Kangana’s remarks come shortly after renowned music composer AR Rahman spoke about facing possible communal discrimination in Bollywood.

In an interview with one of the media houses, Rahman revealed that he has received significantly less work in the Hindi film industry over the past eight years. He suggested that his reduced presence could be linked to bias and discrimination. Rahman also described Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming film Chhava as a divisive project, sparking further debate online.
