Megan Thee Stallion Hospitalised Mid-Show During Broadway Run, Diagnosed With Exhaustion

American rapper and performer Megan Thee Stallion was hospitalised after falling ill during a live performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway, prompting concern among fans and a temporary halt to her appearance in the show.

The incident occurred during a performance in New York City when the artist began experiencing severe discomfort on stage. According to reports, she struggled to continue and was eventually escorted off mid-show before being transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.

Her team later confirmed that doctors diagnosed her condition as extreme exhaustion, along with dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels. She received treatment and has since been discharged, and is currently resting.

In a statement shared after the incident, Megan described the episode as a “wake-up call”, acknowledging that she had been pushing herself beyond her limits. She said she had been “running on empty” and admitted the situation left her shaken as she began to feel faint during the performance.

The performance was completed by an understudy after her exit, ensuring the show continued without cancellation. The incident has drawn attention to the physical demands placed on performers in long-running stage productions.

Megan Thee Stallion had recently made her Broadway debut in the production, taking on the role of Harold Zidler in a gender-swapped casting. Her engagement in the musical began on March 24 and is scheduled to run until May 17.

Following her recovery, the rapper has indicated that she plans to return to the stage shortly. Her team confirmed that she is expected to resume performances after a brief period of rest, with updates suggesting a return as early as the next scheduled show.

The development has sparked conversations around the intense schedules and physical strain associated with live theatre, particularly for performers balancing multiple commitments.

Megan Thee Stallion, known for chart-topping tracks such as Savage and Hot Girl Summer, has in recent years expanded her career into acting and stage performances. Her Broadway stint marked a significant milestone, highlighting her transition into new creative spaces.
