Mrunal Thakur: “I Was Very Adamant That I Only Wanted To Play The Lead, I Was Signed As The Lead Too”

Promoting from Television to the big screen is the dream of every individual who works in television. Some of the actors have the opportunity to make this happen. Actress Mrunal Thakur is one of them, she debuts as a second lead in the famous television daily soap ‘KumKum Bhagya’ and now become a well-known name in Bollywood. She started her career in the movie Love Sonia but her performance was first noticed in Super 30 opposite Hrithik Roshan.

In her latest interview, Mrunal reveals that she was asked to work as a lead role in ‘KumKum Bhagya’ but the story turns and Sriti aka Pragya becomes the lead of the show. She played the role of Bulbul, Pragya’s younger sister, and was also praised by the Fans.

While sharing about her experience in the industry ’Mrunal’ said, “I have realized that the term ‘lead’ is very misleading. I learned that right when I was doing my TV show Kumkum Bhagya. I was very adamant that I only wanted to play the lead. I was signed as the lead too, but eventually, it went into the second lead space. I realized it didn’t matter because I still won immense popularity. What matters is what impact you leave on the audience. Lead koi bhi ho, lekin kabhi kabhi asli masala dussre characters mein hota hai (whosoever is the lead character, at times, the other characters are the ones with more drama). These characters constantly add to the story and the narrative.”

Mrunal, who had worked in several successful films like ‘Toofan’ added, “I am new to the industry, and I don’t want to rush. I want my first 10 movies to be my learning ground. And then you need to wait and watch for my 11th or 12th film. I want to improve and take risks too.”

Soon, Mrunal will be seen in Jersey along with Shahid Kapoor and she has several movies to release this year in her kitty. She also has Pippa, Aankh Micholi, and Thadam remake in her kitty, along with a Telugu film, Sita Ramam.
