Mumbai Court Orders To Take Down ‘Selmon Bhai,’ Video Game That Tarnishes Salman Khan’s Image

In the past, actor Salman Khan had hit headlines for many wrong reasons. From his hit and run case to the Blackbuck poaching case, Salman remained in the negative limelight for quite some time. Recently, a video game was created by the name ‘Selmon Bhoi.’ It appeared to be based on Salman’s hit and run case of 2002. In the same matter, the actor had moved the Mumbai civil court against it as he felt the game was damaging his image. The court accepted Salman’s plea and now has ordered temporary restraint on access to the game.

According to a report, the court restrained the makers of the game, Parody Studios Pvt Ltd and its directors, from disseminating, launching, re-launching, and recreating the game or any other content relating to the actor.

The report says that the court directed the makers to immediately take down/block/disable access to the game from Google Play Store and all other platforms. In its order, the court said, “Upon watching the game and its images, it prima facie matches with the identity of the plaintiff (Khan) and to the hit-and-run case connected to the plaintiff.” It further stated that the game was not created with Salman’s consent. “When the plaintiff has not given his consent for developing of the game, which is very similar to his identity and the case against him, certainly his right to privacy is being deprived and his image is also being tarnished,” the order added.

Salman Khan had filed a complaint in the court last month seeking perpetual injunction against the company Parody Studios Private Limited and Google LLC. In his plea, Salman also claimed that the name and images displayed in the game appeared to be his caricature version. The application further said that the game Selmon Bhoi is phonetically similar to Salman’s popular name amongst his fans, Salman Bhai. He also stated that the game included scenes that were similar to the alleged cases, the hit and run case and the Blackbuck case involving Salman.

The actor’s application which was filed through law firm DSK Legal further stated, “The game developers intentionally gained a commercial advantage by exploiting the personality rights of our client without seeking our client’s consent.”

The court directed the developers to file their affidavit to Khan’s plea and posted the matter for further hearing on September 20. For the unknown, the Bombay High Court acquitted Salman of all charges in the 2002 hit-and-run case in 2015. On the work front, Salman Khan will be next seen in the movie titled Antim, which stars his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma. Khan was last featured in Radhe which starred Disha Patani opposite him. He is currently shooting in Turkey for Tiger 3.
