The upcoming Char Dham Yatra 2026 is scheduled to begin on April 19, but even before its commencement, a major decision has stirred nationwide discussion. Authorities have introduced a new rule requiring non-Hindus to submit an affidavit affirming their faith before being allowed darshan at key temples. This move has not only triggered a broader debate on faith and access but has also brought actress Sara Ali Khan into the spotlight once again due to her frequent visits to Kedarnath Temple.

New Rule for Kedarnath and Badrinath Darshan
As per the latest decision by the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee, non-Hindus or non-Sanatanis must now provide a written affidavit declaring their faith in Sanatan Dharma before offering prayers at temples like Badrinath Temple and Kedarnath. Committee President Hemant Dwivedi clarified that anyone willing to affirm belief in Sanatan Dharma through a written declaration will be allowed entry. This rule is expected to apply not only to Kedarnath and Badrinath but also to several other temples under the committee’s jurisdiction.

So far, Sara has not publicly responded to the new rule. As the debate intensifies, an old statement by Sara Ali Khan from the 2025 Times Now Summit has resurfaced online. In that interaction, she spoke candidly about her identity and upbringing, highlighting India’s secular values. Sara Ali Khan stated, “We are a secular nation. My visit to Kedarnath is a personal journey. Whether anyone likes it or not, it has absolutely nothing to do with any of you. It is about me.”
