Stand-up star Zakir Khan has revealed that he will take a significant break from comedy to focus on his health and personal wellbeing. The announcement came during one of his recent live shows in Hyderabad, where he shared his plans with fans amid his ongoing Papa Yaar tour.

Break Could Last Up to Five Years

Addressing the audience, Zakir said he plans to step away from performing for three, four, or even five years — potentially until 2030, to prioritise his health and address other personal matters. He thanked the crowd for their support and affection, calling those present “very close to my heart.”

Instagram Hints and Final Shows

Before revealing the plan onstage, Zakir hinted at his decision on social media. After landing in Dubai, he posted that “every show is a celebration till June 20” and urged fans to attend his remaining dates, noting that he could not visit as many cities this time.

Zakir Khan Struggles With Health Issues

This isn’t the first time the comedian has spoken about health concerns. In the past year, Zakir shared that he had been dealing with ongoing health issues but continued his hectic schedule of touring because he felt it was necessary. His gruelling routine, doing multiple shows per day, early flights, sleepless nights, and irregular meals, took a toll on him over nearly a decade on the road.

Tour Now Limited, Future Plans Unclear

Zakir acknowledged that he “absolutely loves being on stage,” but felt compelled to step back “before it’s too late.” As a result, this Papa Yaar tour will be limited in the number of cities and shows, and no new dates will be added. After completing the current set of performances and recording his special, advisors have recommended that he take this long hiatus.
