According to ‘Variety,’ Jimmy Kimmel was the last host of the Academy Awards. Having emceed the show in 2017 and 2018. Chris Rock (2016), Neil Patrick Harris (2015), Ellen DeGeneres (2014), Seth MacFarlane (2013), Billy Crystal (2012), and James Franco/Anne Hathaway (2012) were among the other hosts throughout the last decade (2011).

Being the Oscars host was formerly considered one of the most desired jobs in Hollywood. Especially during the era of Bob Hope and Johnny Carson. But the role has become more thankless in the age of social media and non-stop critiques of whoever is on stage.

The true end of the line for Oscar host occurred in 2019. When Kevin Hart was announced as the next host. After the organisation urged him to apologise for years-old homophobic remarks, Hart chose to leave out. The 2019 event was left without a host, and its viewership actually increased over the previous year’s.
