Pakistani Comedy Star Umer Sharif Passes Away In Germany; Kapil Sharma And Others Pen Down An Emotional Note.
The veteran Pakistani comedian Umer Sharif has passed away in Germany at the age of 66 years. The comedian-actor had not been living well since the time of his bypass surgery last year. His health was constantly deteriorating and he was also trying to cope up with other major health problems during the entire last year.
His death was confirmed by Dr. Mohammed Faisal, Pakistan’s ambassador to Germany. He shared this news on his Twitter and penned it down, “With deep sorrow, it is announced that Mr. Umer Sharif has passed away. In #Germany. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Our CG is present at the hospital to assist the family in every way.” As soon as this news was disseminated many celebrities offered their condolences.
Very soon after the demise of the marvellous Pakistani comedian was announced, prime minister Imran Khan expressed his condolences over this incident. “Saddened to learn of Umer Sharif’s passing. I had the good fortune of touring with him to raise funds for SKMT. He was one of our great entertainers and will be missed. My prayers & condolences go to his family,”
While many of the late veteran comedian’s fans had continued to flood the internet space with condolence messages, back home, Kapil Sharma, the Indian comedian, and actor paid his earnest tribute to him and mourned his demise, by sharing a photo of him, where he wrote, “goodbye legend. May your soul Rest In Peace #UmerShareef”. On the other hand, Randeep Hooda, the Indian actor remembered the late Pakistani comedian and wrote, “Thank you for the great laughs. Rest in applause.”
The chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Mr. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed his grief on Sharif’s demise by writing, “The late comedian gave a new dimension to the art of comedy in Pakistan and took it to new heights,” as quoted from the Dawn.
Back in August, Sharif had suffered a heart attack. According to one of his close friends, he passed through two heart bypasses. According to the report, this legendary comedian left for the US in an air ambulance where he was scheduled to undergo an intensive life-saving cardiac surgery. The news was confirmed by his son Jawad, that his father left in an air ambulance IFA 264 for Washington DC.
He further mentioned, “My father, who has been in a private hospital for the last few weeks due to a heart problem and other complications, has finally left (for the US) this morning and was taken to the Jinnah International Airport in an ambulance with a full medical team,”
We can only mourn for loss, but we earnestly and wholeheartedly wish his soul to rest in eternal peace.
