Actor Prakash Raj, known for his outspoken political views, has once again taken a firm stand against what he perceives as the culture of silence in the Hindi film industry. In a recent interview with The Lallantop, the Duet actor called out his peers for not speaking up on political issues, alleging that many choose to remain quiet either out of fear—or because they’ve been “sold”.
“Half of them are sold, my own colleagues, and half of them are afraid because they don’t have the strength,” he said. Recalling a conversation with a friend, Prakash shared, “He told me, ‘Prakash, you have the strength to speak. I don’t.’ I said I understand, but I won’t excuse him. When history is written, it may forgive those who committed crimes, but not those who remained silent. Everyone is responsible.”

Prakash argued that artists have a duty to challenge power, especially through cinema. “Any powerful government will try to suppress discussion. But filmmakers must have the consciousness to make the right kind of films and the resilience to fight for their release,” he stressed.
Known for his critical stance against the ruling establishment, Prakash also admitted that his activism has had consequences. “Yes, I get less work in the Hindi industry. They fear that working with me might cost them something. But this only strengthens my resolve. It’s not that work stops completely—it just becomes limited,” he said.
Despite this, Prakash Raj remains undeterred in both his political and professional journey. He was recently seen in Suriya’s Retro, and is part of upcoming projects like Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG.
