Our youth being such avid follower of social media and being so highly addicted to it is wasting time on it? Or motivating even others to do the same? This not only affects common people but also the celebrities. Most of the celebrities worldwide are much active on instagram and even make this a big deal in front of media and their fans. But are they honest to their fans? Or they too are a part of the race of being the most followed on social sites?
An institute in contemporary music from London, ICMP (Internet control message protocol) and many other firms used IG audit and checked profiles of celebrities all around the world. And the results came out to be shocking. Surprisingly, Ellen Degenres, the lesbian god for many people topped the list with 49% of its instagram followers as fake. The one of the most successful boy bands, BTS or Bangton boys stood second in that list with 47% fake followers. Other celebrities in top 10 were: Kourtney Kardashian, Taylor swift, Ariana grande, Miley cyrus, Katy perry and Khloe Kardashian.
With these top American stars in top 10 there were 2 of the most loved Indian celebs as well, Deepika Padukone with 45% fake followers and Priyanka Chopra with 43%. Who would have thought that women who are inspiration for so many have to make fake followers on Social sites… as if it’s all about the race.
With the development in technology this fraud system is also increasing day by day. According to mediakix reports, the influencer market is increasing while spending 8.5 billion dollars in 2019 to an estimate of 10 billion dollars till 2020. Countries like New Zealand, Japan, Italy, Brazil and Australia removed likes number on posts in a trial as people have made instagram a popularity contest rather than for it to be a platform of expression.
Now it’s up to you, which race you want to join… The one where you make fake followers and live a life where you are just lying to yourself and even your fans or being honest with oneself and express the Realism.
