Punjabi actress Sonam Bajwa has recently found herself at the center of a heated controversy after a sequence of her upcoming film Pit Syaapa was allegedly shot inside the historic Bhagat Sadhna Mosque located in Sirhind, Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab. The incident has triggered strong reactions from religious leaders and sparked a wider debate on respecting sacred spaces during film productions. Punjab’s Shahi Imam, Maulana Mohammad Usman Rahmani Ludhianvi, has demanded strict police action against the actress and the entire film crew.

Sonam Bajwa Stuck In Controversies
According to him, the team’s decision to shoot scenes inside a mosque amounts to hurting religious sentiments, and he has formally submitted a complaint to the Fatehgarh Sahib SSP. The Shahi Imam stated that filming inside any mosque is strictly prohibited, but the crew allegedly went ahead despite these restrictions. He expressed deep disappointment, saying, “This mosque was built in the name of Bhagat Sadhna, who holds immense reverence among both Sikh and Muslim communities. His hymns are part of the Guru Granth Sahib. Filming here is shocking and a violation of the mosque’s sanctity.”

In his complaint, the Shahi Imam claimed that the shoot reportedly took place at night, during which food and drinks were allegedly consumed inside the premises, an act he described as against religious decorum. He also mentioned that a clearly visible board outside the mosque prohibits any form of filming, yet the crew allegedly continued shooting despite this.

He further alleged that some scenes from the film may also be objectionable from a religious perspective. The Imam has demanded immediate action not only against the actress, director, and producer, but also against any authorities who may have granted permission for the shoot. Urging swift action, the Shahi Imam said, “The sanctity of the mosque has been violated and faith has been tampered with. This cannot be ignored. The police should take action without delay.”
