Actor Rahul Roy, best known for his iconic performances in films such as Aashiqui, Junoon and Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Ayee, has opened up about a difficult chapter in his life. The actor, who suffered a brain stroke in 2020, revealed that the past five years have been challenging both personally and professionally. Rahul recently found himself in the spotlight after videos of him dancing at weddings went viral, with some people speculating that financial difficulties had forced him to take up small projects. Addressing the assumptions, Rahul explained that he is simply working hard to rebuild his life and career after years of recovery. He also revealed that he is currently fighting a legal case worth around Rs 30 lakh along with his brother, which he hopes to settle soon. Reflecting on the last five years, Rahul admitted that his health setback significantly affected his career. He said that the period was almost like a break because he was recovering and had very little work. Now that his health has improved, the actor is determined to return to the sets and take on more projects. Rahul expressed gratitude towards filmmakers and people from the industry who continue to trust him with work. Looking back at his 37-year journey in cinema, he said he believes he has delivered some meaningful performances and is now eager to add more work to his filmography. For him, getting back in front of the camera represents not just professional progress but also a fresh beginning.

Rahul also addressed the criticism he received for performing at weddings. He made it clear that such appearances are a form of honest work and help him manage his expenses. According to the actor, he can sometimes earn around Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh through wedding performances. “I need the money,” Rahul said, emphasising that people who mock him for dancing at weddings do not understand the effort involved. He had previously responded to the trolling on social media, saying that he works with honesty and dignity and has legal expenses dating back to before his brain stroke. Rahul urged critics to stop making fun of his struggles and instead help him find genuine work if they were genuinely concerned about his situation.
Despite the hardships, Rahul remains grateful for the support he has received from several people in the film industry. He credited personalities including Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Farah Khan, Archana Puran Singh and Pooja Bhatt for standing by him at different points. Salman had also helped with his medical expenses following his brain stroke. Rahul continues to remain in touch with his Aashiqui co-stars Anu Aggarwal, Deepak Tijori and Avatar Gill, as well as filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, and hopes to reunite with some of them professionally. He has also made significant lifestyle changes following his health crisis, including becoming vegan and adopting a Jain-style diet. Rahul’s story is ultimately one of resilience—a veteran actor determined to rebuild his career, regain financial stability and move forward with dignity despite the challenges life has placed before him.
