Actor Rajpal Yadav has come out in support of his Bhooth Bangla co-star Wamiqa Gabbi after she faced trolling on social media over a viral promotional video that appeared to show her “ignoring” him.
The controversy began after clips from the film’s promotional events surfaced online. In one such video, Wamiqa was seen walking past Rajpal Yadav and heading towards producer Ektaa Kapoor, leading some users to speculate that she had snubbed the actor. The moment was widely shared, with sections of social media criticising her behaviour.
Responding to the backlash, Rajpal Yadav dismissed the claims and described the situation as a misunderstanding caused by camera angles. He explained that what appeared in the video did not accurately reflect what was happening in real time.
Clarifying the sequence of events, the actor said that multiple people were interacting simultaneously during the promotional activity, and depending on the angle of the camera, the visuals could create a misleading impression. He added that both he and Wamiqa were engaged with different individuals at that moment, but the framing of the clip made it seem otherwise.
Referring to his co-star, Rajpal described Wamiqa as “bechari” (innocent), indicating that she was unnecessarily targeted over a situation that had been misinterpreted. He also noted that the cast shares a friendly and informal bond, where such incidents are not taken seriously among themselves.
The actor further said that people watching from a distance may draw conclusions that differ from reality, especially when short clips circulate without context. He added that the team itself had laughed over the viral moment and did not view it as an issue.
Rajpal Yadav also addressed the broader narrative around the incident, stating that in his decades-long career, he has never felt disrespected or ignored by co-stars. He emphasised that the working environment in the industry is generally collaborative and respectful, and such assumptions based on isolated visuals can be misleading.
The viral clip was part of the promotional campaign for Bhooth Bangla, an upcoming horror-comedy directed by Priyadarshan. The film features an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi, and is scheduled for release in April 2026.
The episode has once again highlighted how brief moments captured on camera can lead to widespread speculation online, often prompting responses from those involved to clarify the context.
