While Richa Chadha and Rahul Bhat were in the capital to promote their upcoming movie ‘Daas Dev’, we went on to asking their take on the 8-year-old Kathua girl’s rape and murder case. The incident has shocked the entire nation. The victim was kidnapped and sedated before she was raped by different men in a temple’s prayer hall. She was then hit with a rock on her head before she finally died.
When asked about this inhumane crime that recently happened, Richa said that she has been giving messages all across. She has also been carrying on this online petition for some 2-3 days. She said, “I have been giving messages all across. We have been carrying online petitions for 2-3 days. We are usually not in the city and can’t really participate in a peace march or anything. We do whatever we can, whenever we can.”
As the news broke out, people stepped out in support of the victim. However, it stunned everyone as some politicians set up a Hindu Ekta Manch to defend all the accused. All the accused have been identified and arrested now. Richa said, “If the entire incident wasn’t brought forth, all these people who are involved would have fled.”
“If all this is not strictly dealt with, this crime will be on a rise because the rapist will always think that I will get saved eventually,” she added.
Rahul Bhat too spoke on the heinous incident. “I really feel that there is something wrong with the men of this nation. I don’t know where this mindset comes from and who are these people who come out and rape. They should be publically hanged. The problem is deeper and we should really find out where is it going wrong.”
Asking his take on the slow justice system, he said, “There are crores of such cases lying in the courts since years. There are lakhs of cases where people are jailed for minor issues. Then there are people spending all their lives in jail because they don’t have enough money to get a bail. And the bigger criminals are roaming out freely.”
Coming to their movie, Daas Dev is a romantic political thriller film directed by Sudhir Mishra and it also stars Saurabh Shukla, Aditi Rao Hydari, Anurag Kashyap, Vineet Kumar Singh along with Richa and Rahul.
