During a tense Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 19, host Rohit Shetty openly chastised music composer Amaal Mallik for repeatedly accusing the show’s makers of bias and unfairness. The confrontation erupted after Gaurav Khanna became captain, reigniting long-simmering tensions around favoritism in the house.
In a viral promo, Shetty calls out Amaal and fellow contestant Shehbaaz Badesha for calling out the show’s “producers” for playing a dirty game. He pulls them up for using inflammatory language, saying their words were “completely wrong” and too disrespectful. The director-turned-host also questioned whether Amaal’s claims of favoritism are an emotional reaction to things not going his way — pointing to what he sees as glaring “double standards.”
Shetty also highlights a contradiction: when Mridul Sharma was evicted on live audience votes, no one raised the issue of bias. “Why do you only talk about being unfair when it hits close to home?” he asked. He accuses Amaal of conveniently using the narrative of unfairness only when the outcomes don’t favour him.
The drama began when Gaurav confronted Amaal, accusing him of hypocrisy. Gaurav insisted he’s maintained his dignity despite allegations. “I’ve been true to my game from the start,” he told Shetty. But Amaal fired back, saying Gaurav’s dignity vanished after he became captain. Tempers flared when Amaal threatened, “If I trigger, then you will have a problem,” directly in front of Shetty.
This exchange follows Amaal’s earlier claims that the show’s production is “cheating” contestants. Now, Shetty firmly rejects that charge. He refuses to bend to accusations and makes it clear that favoritism doesn’t determine his comments or decisions. “I don’t care about your nepotism claims,” he says, underscoring his role as a neutral arbiter.
Some viewers saw Shetty’s stance as a necessary reality check. They argue that when Amaal makes repeated claims of bias, he contributes to a narrative of victimhood — and Shetty’s call-out shines a light on that pattern. On Reddit, several fans supported the host, saying many castmates only cry “unfair” when things don’t go their way.
Others, however, back Amaal, suggesting his frustration comes from real grievances. Singer Armaan Malik (Amaal’s brother) recently accused the Bigg Boss makers of editing house footage to paint his brother poorly, calling the show’s toxicity “exhausting.”

The tension isn’t just between Amaal and Shetty — it’s become a bigger commentary on power, privilege, and performance inside the Bigg Boss house. Viewers and housemates alike are now watching closely: was Amaal making genuine complaints, or was it a strategic move for screen time? And is Shetty’s rebuke about maintaining order, or about protecting the integrity of the show?
Whatever the truth, this weekend’s episode promises to deepen the divide — and the conversation. With Shetty’s host-savvy and Amaal’s growing vocal edge, tensions inside Bigg Boss 19 are far from cooling down.
