The #MeToo movement knocked on Bollywood’s door recently and several prominent members of the film industry, such as Alok Nath, Rajat kapoor and Vikas Bahl, have been outed as sexual predators. The recent one who has been accused of sexual harassment is director Sajid Khan.

Amid sexual harassment allegations by a journalist, an actress and an assistant director, Sajid Khan on Friday shared a statement on Twitter, saying that he will be stepping down as the director of Housefull 4.

Sajid Khan’s full statement reads, “In the wake of the allegations against me and the pressure being put on my family, my producer and the stars of the film Housefull 4, I must take the moral responsibility of stepping down from my directorial post, till the time I can allay the allegations and prove the truth. I request my friends in the media to kindly not pass judgment till the truth is out.”

Sajid’s sister and filmmaker Farah Khan also addressed the issue. She tweeted, “This is a heartbreaking time for my family. We have to work through some very difficult issues. If my brother has behaved in this manner he has a lot to atone for.I don’t in any way endorse this behavior and Stand in solidarity with any woman who has been hurt.”

Akshay Kumar has also decided to stop shooting for the film and urged the producers of Housefull 4 to do so.  Following the accusations against Sajid, Akshay Kumar has cancelled the shoot of the film.

His statement read, “I have just landed back in the country last night and reading all the news has been very disturbing. I’ve requested the producers of Housefull 4 to cancel the shoot until further investigation. This is something that requires stringent action. I will not work with any proven offenders and all this who have been subjugated to harassment should be heard and given the justice they deserve.”
