The news of Priyanka Chopra getting engaged was confirmed when the makers of Bharat shared that Priyanka has opted out of the magnum opus Bharat. While there were congratulatory messages being poured out by people on Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ engagement, there were others who are unhappy with Priyanka’s quitting Bharat.
Bharat was supposed to be a comeback for Priyanka Chopra in Bollywood. She has been doing a number of Hollywood movies and shows and her fans here are waiting for the actress to appear on the big screen again with a Bollywood flick. And Bharat was certainly that movie. However, Priyanka Chopra’s exit from Bharat in the ‘Nick of the time’ has disappointed many of her fans.
Salman Khan, the leading actor of Bharat earlier denied to say anything about Priyanka’s exit but now that Katrina has stepped up and signed the movie in such a short time, he finally gave a statement. He said, “I am really happy for her. Had we known earlier that she has signed a big film in Hollywood, we would have never stopped her. My shooting had begun. We got to know about her decision of leaving the film at the end moment- just 10 days before her schedule.” He also slipped in a word about the reported marriage and added, “Priyanka had come home and I told her, ‘It’s okay if you don’t want to do it’. At that time, we were given some other reason. Whatever may be the reason – be it marriage or picture or her not willing to work in India or with me, it’s her reason and we are really supportive about her doing good work. If she does not want to work with Salman Khan, it’s okay; she’s working with a big hero in Hollywood.”
He continued to praise Katrina for doing Bharat as well. He said, “She is already doing ‘Zero’ with Shah Rukh Khan, ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ with Aamir Khan and another film with Yash Raj Films. With all these films, she said yes to ‘Bharat’, because of which we are very grateful to her. She is extremely hard working,” he explained. If you don’t know it already, the film is being helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is slated to hit theatres on June 5, next year.
