Luxury dining hotspot Bastian has found itself in the spotlight after renowned writer and socialite Shobhaa De claimed that the restaurant generates a staggering ₹2-3 crore every single night. Describing it as Kubera’s treasure, Shobhaa said that guests arrive in high-end cars like Lamborghinis and that per-table bills often run into lakhs. Her comments quickly sparked buzz across social media and the hospitality industry.

Now, Bastian’s co-owner Ranjit Bindra has responded to the viral claims. In a recent conversation with one of the media houses, Ranjit Bindra and actress-entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty opened up about their journey with Bastian from its humble beginnings to becoming one of Mumbai’s most sought-after dining brands. When asked about reports suggesting that Bastian earns ₹2-3 crore per day, Ranjit reacted candidly.

He said, “I hope it’s true. I’m sure it will one day, so keep the hope alive.” His response neither confirmed nor denied the figures but hinted that while the brand is successful, the reported numbers may be aspirational rather than current reality. Shilpa Shetty first visited Bastian in 2016 as a customer. At the time, she had no idea she would eventually become a co-owner.

Recalling the journey, Shilpa shared that she met Ranjit at the restaurant, where he mentioned plans to open another outlet in Worli. Initially, she was not convinced about the location, as the space was vacant and seemed risky. However, Ranjit was confident about transforming it into a thriving restaurant. In 2019, Shilpa officially partnered with Ranjit Bindra and acquired a 50 percent stake in the brand.

Interestingly, much of Bastian’s expansion and recognition came during the COVID-19 period, a challenging time for the hospitality industry. Today, the Bastian group reportedly operates eight restaurants across four different brands. Speaking about choosing Shilpa as a business partner, Ranjit said her presence brought unique energy to the venture, “Whenever I spoke to her, I always felt a positive atmosphere. I always wanted Shilpa to be a part of Bastian, and I was right. She’s my lucky charm.”
