Sonu Sood Receives Another BMC Notice Over Mumbai ‘Hotel’ – Deets Inside

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a second notice to actor Sonu Sood, requesting that he convert a six-story tower in Mumbai’s Juhu neighborhood into a residential project. The actor was previously summoned by the Bombay High Court in connection with the incident. He had promised BMC in July that he would convert the building into a residential unit.

The BMC notice read: “You have stated in your letter that you discontinued the activity of lodging/boarding on the existing 1st to 6th floors of the building and it shall be used for residential purposes as per the sanctioned plan. Also, you have mentioned that necessary work for addition/alteration/restoration is under progress.”

Sood was reprimanded by the Bombay High Court earlier this year for the incident. He promised to restore the building after withdrawing his suit from the Supreme Court.

Sood was given seven days to carry out the restoration. Activist Ganesh Kusmulu alleged that Sood had converted the hotel into a girl’s hostel. “BMC should demolish the building,” he said.

Sonu Sood submitted an application to the BMC’s BP Department’s K-West ward office in June 2018 to convert the six-story residential structure into a hotel for lodging. In September 2018, the BMC rejected the proposal and asked that it adhere to the rules.

Following many complaints, the premises were investigated by K West ward health department authorities on January 24, 2019, to check the details, and it was discovered that the facility lacked a legal license to operate. The officials then stated that Sonu Sood would face criminal charges.

According to sources, Sood has informed the BMC that the restoration has already been completed. It will remain a residential property, with no illegal construction taking place.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Sonu will be next seen in the upcoming movie ‘Prithviraj’ co-starring Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar.  Prithviraj is a forthcoming Indian Hindi-language epic action drama film directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films. The story is based on Rajput Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s life. It stars Akshay Kumar as Prithviraj Chauhan, while Manushi Chhillar makes her Hindi cinema debut as Sanyogita. Other prominent characters in the film include Sanjay Dutt, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij, and Lalit Tiwari.
